NEW GENE ASSAYS DEVELOPMENT

Gene Express, Inc. recognizes that researchers require assays for a group of genes that are appropriate to their specific studies. For this reason, Gene Express' scientists will design robust, highly specific and sensitive StaRT-PCR gene assays based on the needs of the individual researcher.

Gene Express client proven StaRT-PCR multi-gene Transcript Abundance Measurement technology is designed to deliver standardized, reproducible quantitative measurement of multi-gene activity in a convenient and cost-effective manner. All assays are designed and developed under the FDA Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations (21 CFR Part 58) and in compliance with Gene Express' defined and tested SOPs (Standardized Operation Procedures). The 29-step assay development process is highly quality controlled (QC) and quality assurance (QA). (See QC/QA White Paper) The proprietary process of designing your custom assays is outlined below:

Amplify the Native Template for Requested Target Gene(s)

  • Identify the Standard and Alternative Nomenclature of the target gene(s).
  • Design forward and reverse PCR primers specific for the target gene(s).
  • Identify location of the primers on the target gene(s).
  • Identify the size in base pairs (bp) of the native template(s).
  • Synthesize forward and reverse PCR primers specific for the target gene(s).
  • Perform PCR reactions.
Amplify the Internal Standard Competitive Template for Requested Gene(s)
  • Identify a specific competitive sequence for the target gene(s).
  • Design Internal Standard competitive template PCR primers specific for the target gene(s).
  • Identify the size in base pairs (bp) of the Internal Standard competitive template(s).
  • Synthesize specific Internal Standard competitive template PCR primer(s) for the target gene(s).
  • Perform PCR reactions.
Clone and Purify the Competitive Template for Requested Target Gene(s)
  • Clone and purify the Internal Standard competitive template for requested target gene(s) according to Gene Express standard operating procedures.
Verify Primer Sequences for the Internal Standard Competitive Template for Requested Target Gene(s)
  • Sequence the Internal Standard competitive template for requested target gene(s) according to Gene Express standard operating procedures.
Test Sensitivity of Internal Standard Competitive Template for Requested Target Gene(s)
  • Analyze the sensitivity of primers according to Gene Express standard operating procedures.
Preparation of the Standardized Mixture of Internal Standards (SMIS) for Requested Target Gene(s)
  • Prepare a Standardized Mixture of Internal Standards (SMIS) for the requested gene(s) according to Gene Express standard operating procedures.
